A former independent member of parliament Elövset Ağalarov, who is the director of Azerbaijan State Publishing House as well, was at Silivri Prison yesterday. Ağalarov went to Silivri to visit Mehmet Perinçek; however, he could not do so because of bureaucratic reasons. Perinçek, a research assistant at Istanbul University, was arrested in the context of the ‘Ergenekon’ plot in the raids of 19th August 2011.

Ağalarov stated that he knows Perinçek personally and added that Perinçek is a very valuable researcher. Ağalarov said that Mehmet Perinçek was able to study on the documents related to so-called ‘Armenian genocide’ in Russian archives that even they themselves are not allowed to obtain. Ağalarov went on his words saying that ‘Perinçek is as pure as water’. Ağalarov stated that Turkish people will not forget the studies and contribution that Mehmet Perinçek has made. He said ‘Perinçek’s books which have defeated Armenian genocide claims are very important to us not only for today but also for the future’. Ağalarov finished his words by saying ‘Freedom to the Patriots’.
